Dawn (Part One)

Set your gaze Westward!

And let your feet follow.

Command your steps to plunge

into the deep, dark blue of the fading Dusk.

With your back to the tilting horizon,

where Dawn burns the rim of the Earth,

where she consumes the seam between Earth and Sky,

cling to the Nighttime;

grasp her with all your might.

Walk, and then run, into her embrace,

even as she fades,

surrendering to the onslaught of a shallow blue canopy.

Though she takes you kicking and screaming,

begging and pleading, “Please, no!”

let the Sunrise wrap you up with the blanket of Dawn,

fearing neither golden light nor the promise of a new day.

Darkness and Dusk may have loved you,

but Dawn is your truest friend.
